In the USA a lot of people didn't contribute enough to social security so they are now headed for social welfare or whatever miserable fate that the lack of money will deal to them. If you have enough time to plan ahead and aren't already retiring soon then you have a chance.
There are several ways to invest that will pay off later with little to almost no risk.
